How to Support Your Teeth

Your teeth are strong and resilient, but sometimes they need a little extra support. There are a few things you can do to help keep your teeth healthy and strong.

1. Eat a balanced diet. Eating a variety of foods helps ensure that your teeth get the nutrients they need to stay strong.

2. Avoid sugary and acidic foods. These can damage your tooth enamel and lead to cavities.

3. brush and floss regularly. This helps remove plaque and bacteria from your teeth and gums.

4. Visit your dentist regularly for checkups and cleanings. This is important for catching any problems early and keeping your teeth healthy.

5. Don't smoke. Smoking cigarettes and using other tobacco products can damage your teeth, gums, and the tissue around your teeth. Plaque is a sticky film that collects on your teeth.

It's made up of bacteria, food particles, and saliva. A dental hygienist or dentist at will clean plaque from your teeth during regular checkups and cleanings. Plaque that isn't cleaned from your teeth can harden into tartar (also called calculus), which is harder to remove than plaque alone.

If plaque and tartar aren't removed, they can cause cavities and gum disease. To reduce the amount of plaque on your teeth, brush them at least twice a day for two minutes each time you brush.
